Yamatake's on-site know-how and advanced technologies have won a high reputation in world markets. Our strategies too are global in scale. We are always conducting local market research to see just where our unique products can play a role. With the upcoming deregulation of gas in EU countries, Europe is leading the way in a move toward greater emphasis on natural gas as an environmentally friendly energy resource. Yamatake has developed a key product for this burgeoning market, the HGC (heat value gas chromatograph), and we are now preparing to enter the global gas business. In North America, the center of the world's semiconductor industry, our business is centered on the supply of advanced sensors and temperature controllers - our specialty. In 2001 we established a local US affiliate to develop new sensing and control solutions. And we have supplied several thousand control valves to customers all over the world.
Moreover, in order to ensure that plant equipment is maintained in the best condition, CV maintenance shops are being set up in Asia, and we are expanding our MRO business for the mainte-nance and replacement of control valves. We are also working on the development of smart valve positioners that will extend the working life of control valves.

Finally, the trump card in Yamatake's international market strategy lies in combining area-focused IA/CP/BA business. IA (industrial automation) covers discrete, hybrid and batch process automation for plants and factories; CP (control products) offers a wide range of equipment for measurement and control applications; and BA (building automation) delivers comfortable interior environments. By fusing our extensive automation experience with our engineering strengths and instrumentation devices, we can supply automation that is tailored to the needs of our customers. For example, the optimum control of factory air conditioning and utilities for reduced energy consumption is something that can only be achieved with Yamatake's integrated IA/CP/BA approach.
