Hong Kong Practical Shooting Association
The Association was formed in 1989 by Dave Carver-Trotter and Peter Dawson, both then officials of the Royal Hong Kong Police Shooting Club, at that time effectively the only Club shooting IPSC matches and practises. The Association logo was designed to reflect these links and hopefully it will remain unchanged after the reversion of Hong Kong's Sovereignty to China in mid 1997, since the China Practical Shooting Association (CPSA) already exists as a separate entity, responsible for the sport in mainland China.
The HKPSA was subsequently registered with IPSC Headquarters as being the Regional Directorate for Hong Kong, with the RD remaining as Peter Dawson (who introduced the sport to Hong Kong in the early 1980's.) The Association was also registered with the Hong Kong Government and is the Governing Body not only for IPSC, but also all other Practical Shooting Sports within the Hong Kong Region.
The HKPSA Constitution is modelled on that used by the IPSC. It does not accept individual memberships, but instead affiliates Shooting Clubs (or their Practical Shooting Sections where the Club is multi-discipline) within the Hong Kong Region which wish to participate in any Practical Shooting Sport. It also offers individual recognition by way of registration to all persons who shoot any of the Practical Disciplines within the Hong Kong Region and issues IPSC Membership cards for those registered as paid up IPSC Members of affiliated Clubs.
